CONSTRUCTION
I’The Bulldog Pup is an indispensable tool for preserving product nuances and quality. It pressurizes the barrel with an inert gas, so the beverage will naturally find the path of least resistance, gently pushing out the product. It eliminates the need for traditional pumps that introduce oxygen into the product, which can allow bacterial growth and damage the chemical structure of wine, beer and spirits.
Made of 304 stainless, the overall length of a standard racking wand is 36 inches and fits both Bordeaux and Burgundy barrels. The wand slides up and down through the adjuster allowing up to 9 inches of vertical lees height adjustment.
A brass adjuster with an expanding food grade silicone bung securely seals the wand in the barrel without damage and prevents gas leakage. The time saving lever Speed Ears quickly expand the bung and seals the wand into the barrel.
The gas inlet is 1/4 inch FNPT with a brass ball valve for easy gas control at the wand and a 20 psi pressure relief valve comes installed. This is to ensure recommended pressures are not exceeded while still prioritizing transfer time per barrel. A sightglass is also included for visibility as the barrel gets close to being emptied, allowing for clean, sediment-free rackings everytime.
There are several additional options available to accommodate individual needs and cellar set up. These options include Foot Valve (check ball valve) at the wine inlet and Puncheon clamp-on ends. These are used with the Open End Bulldog Pup to allow for product flow.
